These coasters/ashtrays are really interesting. They were made by Fred Pearson and Richard Taylor and remind me of New Yorker cartoons. There are 24 never use foil squares that are folded up in the corners.
They are really quite goofy because they are taking french phrases and giving them meaning from what they sound like, for instance, Carte blanch is Take Blanche Home with a picture of a drunk lady on the floor amid turned over furniture with her hair a mess. Today they would be considered very sexist.
The box is 3.5 X 3.75" and is very worn but the foil coasters have not been used and are in excellent vintage condition.
