A beautiful piece of Alaskan Indian art. This was purchased in the early 60s in NE Alaska. It was made by the Yupik Indians and is made of rye grass and dyed seal gut.
Some of the green & red seal gut has faded & it is a little dusty but this 50+ year old basket is in great vintage condition, fully together except a inch long portion on the very top row which is missing the horizontal grass. It is 5" in diameter and the bottom portion of the basket is 3.5" tall, the top is another 1.5" .
