Sorry, this item has sold.

An ashtray with a story. Marty's was a restaurant on the upper east side of Manhatten in the 70's and 80's.
It's an ivory color with dark brown writing and is 5.5" in diameter. There are no chips or cracks on the top side but the bottom side has some nicks around the edge.

The owner, Martin Ross was a partner in the brokerage firm Charles Plohn & Co and had a $300,000 a year income which was a lot of money in the late 60's. He had fancy cars and dated models. Then things went bad with the bull market and his income dropped to $30,000. He left the brokerage business and opened Marty's Bum Steer in 1972. It was a steak house and nightclub. In 1982, IRS agents stormed the business after he had boasted to a person (who turned out to be an IRS spy) he grossed $500,000 and wasnt paying taxes on it. They wound up finding a small amount of cocaine in his desk and he was prosecuted for it.

How much is a custom mermaid?

It depends on the size and the work involved. Custom mermaids start at $50.

I saw an item like this on EBay for less. Can you match the price?

No.

Can you hold an item until I get paid?

No. I have done this before, taken the item out of inventory and then the person never bought. This causes me to have to pay to re-list the item and miss out on other potential sales. Please do not ask me to do this.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, I do!
