This is a beautiful alabaster bust made circa 1920 and from Europe. On the back it is signed "Emilio Italy Houdon". My understanding is that Jean Antoine Houdon (1741-1828) worked only in marble, not alabaster. That said, many art students would carve alabaster to replicate the great masters to hone their skills, which makes this piece still really special. It is in great condition, except for a chip off the corner of the black marble base which I have photographed.
